Bida Ka, Pinoy Abroad!

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Tsk…tsk…tsk… Ano na tayo Bayan?!

Wag malungkot!

Paalam Ka Erdy!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Early morning as I was seeking for something through the internet, I read a news regarding about the death of one of the famous religious leader-Eraño G. Manalo of Church of Christ. Since most of my workmates at MEGALOPOLIS PROPERTIES INCORPORATED are devoted to their religion “Iglesia ni Kristo” I also felt loneliness for them. In behalf of my friend George Cabe, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude and sympathy to the family and breathren of Kapatid na Eraño Manalo.

Friendship bar

Here is the copy of the news from Yahoo News:

MANILA, Philippines – Erano Manalo, leader of the Philippines’ largest indigenous religious sect, has died, his spokesman said Tuesday. He was 84.

Manalo took over Iglesia ni Cristo, or Church of Christ, after the death of his father and the church’s founder, Felix Manalo, in 1963. The church is believed to have millions of members but does not disclose the figure.

Manalo died of a heart attack in his Manila home on Monday, the church’s spokesman Bienvenido Santiago said.

The church was founded in 1914 when Felix Manalo resigned as minister of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church after questioning the observance of Sabbath on Saturdays. He experienced what he claimed to be a call similar to those of ancient prophets.

Iglesia ni Cristo rejects the Christian doctrine of trinity and believes Christ is one of several prophets.

It is considered the largest indigenous church that originated from the Philippines and the largest independent church in Asia.

Let us know all about Eraño Manalo from WIKIPEDIA:

Religion Iglesia ni Cristo
Other names Ka Erdy
Personal
Date of birth January 2, 1925
Place of birth Quezon City, Philippines
Date of death August 31, 2009 (Age 84)
Place of death Philippines

Eraño de Guzman Manalo (January 2, 1925 - August 31, 2009), also known as Ka Erdy, was the Executive Minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo religious organization. He took over the administration of the church after the death of his father, Felix Manalo, in 1963. He was instrumental in the propagation and expansion of the church internationally. He previously held office as the General Treasurer of the church, and as a District Minister of Manila.

Biography

Eraño Manalo was the fifth child of Felix Y. Manalo and Honorata de Guzman. His name came from a reversal and elision of the term “New Era,” which his father used to describe what he felt was “a new Christian era” as the Iglesia ni Cristo was established.

Manalo initially took up law school, but left his studies to become a minister of the INC. He started attending the church’s ministerial classes at the age of 16 and was ordained as a minister by the age of 22. He held various positions in the church including being the general treasurer of the INC and circulation manager of the Pasugo magazine (now known as God’s Message). During this time, he wrote a 64-page booklet entitled Christ-God: Investigated-False.

On January 17, 1955, Eraño Manalo married Cristina Villanueva with whom he has six children. In 1953, ten years before his father’s death, Eraño Manalo was elected successor to his father as Executive Minister. As of 2005[update] his son Eduardo is INC’s Deputy Executive Minister.

Administration

With the passing of Felix Manalo, critics of the church predicted the decline and eventual fall of the Iglesia. To them, the church’s popularity was due mainly to the charisma and leadership of Felix Manalo. Barely a month after assuming his role as spiritual leader of the church, the young Manalo began visiting congregations nationwide. At every location he visited, he officiated worship services and staged massive religious rallies in public plazas. During this period of transition in what critics thought was the most vulnerable period of the church, Manalo further consolidated the gains of the church.

In 1947, Manalo became the General Treasurer of the church. He was later elected as successor to Felix Manalo by provincial ministers as early as 1953. In 1957 he became the District Minister of Manila. Very few people outside of the church gave Manalo’s leadership potential enough credit. He would later initiate significant moves that would make the church to what it is today.

Manalo demonstrated the church responsiveness to the needs of the poor. Even before the government initiated agrarian reforms, Manalo established model land reforms. In 1965, the first of the resettlement farms was Maligaya farm in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Similar projects were established in Cavite, Rizal and other provinces.

As early as 1967, four years after assuming leadership role, Manalo set his vision to overseas mission and global expansion. On July 27, 1968 Manalo established the first congregation of the church overseas in Honolulu, Hawaii. Other congregations where established in San Francisco and Los Angeles in California.

In 1968, Manalo moved the headquarters of the church to Diliman, Quezon City and began building major structures in what is now known as the Central Office Complex. The administration of the church is housed at the six-story Central Office building where Manalo has a permanent office. In this building are the offices of departments, social halls and is where thousand of professionals and volunteers work. Also in the complex is the Central Temple which is the largest of the church’s house of worship. Nearby is the tent-shaped Tabernacle, which serves as a multi-purpose hall.

Death

In an announcement on dzBB radio, INC spokesperson Bienvenido Santiago confirmed Manalo’s death:

Translated to English:

“We are sad to announce to the Iglesia and to the whole nation that the Executive Minister of Iglesia ni Cristo, our brother Eraño G. Manalo, has been laid to rest by God. He passed away at his home 3:53 p.m. on August 31, 2009. He was 84 years old”

Santiago said that according to Dr. Ray Melchor Santos, Manalo died due to cardiopulmonary arrest

Paalam Madam Cory!

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Corazon C. Aquino
Ika-11 Pangulo ng Pilipinas
Ikalawang Pangulo ng Ika-apat na Republika
Unang Pangulo ng Ikalimang Republika
Panahon ng Panunungkulan
Pebrero 25, 1986 Hunyo 30, 1992

Philippine 2010 Election - Pagboto, Karapatan at Obligasyon!

Monday, May 11th, 2009
” Sa darating pong eleksyon huwag nyo pong kalilimutang iboto…………!”

” Nangangako po akong………..!”

” Ang inyo pong lingkod ay………!”

” Vote straight……….!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009
A day for all of us to honor our MOTHER- A Mother’s day celebration. It is also the time of commemoration and celebration for our lovely Mother.

Based from what i have read from Helen Hunt Jackson she described mother as “The woman who creates and sustains a home and under whose hands children grow up to be strong and pure men and women, is a creator second to God.”

We can’t deny the fact that the task of a mother is 24 hours and seven days a week just to serve the whole family from husband to his children and being the light if the house so o
ne of the best way to celebrate Mother’s Day is to give our mom her day off. Let her take it easy and relax while the rest of the family does the work.

This time, I tell you that I truly believe that the people in your life deserve to know how much they are loved. So, to all of you let us all give them what ever we can and want to give to show our appreciation to all of the sacrifices of our loving mother for us.

To all of the Mothers, congratulations you’ve accomplished a miracle! There is no greater sacrifice on earth, in my opinion, than making the decision to be a mother. That is how important you are!

Generally, this article is meant for all the young and aged mothers, Grandmother s and Godmothers, working mothers and housewives, married mothers and the single mothers, those mothers with 100% dedication for their families, for those without whom life would have been insufferable.

I am Wishing you a very Happy Mother’s Day!!

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm167/hans1951/happy_mothers_day-roses-dsc00485-p1.jpg

Here is the prayer for you:

Most Gracious Heavenly Father,

We thank You for our mothers to whom You have entrusted the care of every precious human life from its very beginning in the womb.

You have given to woman the capacity of participating with You in the creation of new life. Grant that every woman may come to understand the full meaning of that blessing, which gives her an unlimited capacity for selfless love for every child she may be privileged to bear, and for all Your children.

Watch over every mother who is with child, strengthen her faith in Your fatherly care and love for her and for her unborn baby. Give her courage in times of fear or pain, understanding in times of uncertainty and doubt, and hope in times of trouble. Grant her joy in the birth of her child.

To mothers You have given the great privilege and responsibility of being a child’s first teacher and spiritual guide. Grant that all mothers may worthily foster the faith of their children, following the example of Mary, Elizabeth, and other holy women who follow Christ. Help mothers to grow daily in knowledge and understanding of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and grant them the wisdom to impart this knowledge faithfully to their children, and to all who depend upon them.

Assist all “spiritual mothers”, those who, though they may have no children of their own, nevertheless selflessly care for the children of others — of every age and state in life. Grant that they may know the joy of fulfilling this motherly calling of women, whether in teaching, nursing, religious life, or in other work which recognizes and fosters the true dignity of every human being created in Your image and likeness.

We beseech You to send Your Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to all mothers who sorrow for children that have died, are ill or estranged from their families, or who are in trouble or danger of any kind. Help grieving mothers to rely on Your tender mercy and fatherly love for all your children.

We ask your blessing on all those to whom You have entrusted motherhood. May Your Holy Spirit constantly inspire and strengthen them. May they ever follow the example of Mary, mother of Our Lord, and imitate her fidelity, her humility, and her self-giving love. May all mothers receive Your Grace abundantly in this earthly life, and may they look forward to eternal joy in Your presence in the life to come.

We ask this through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. AMEN.

( Prayer from Women for Faith & Family (St Louis: Women for Faith & Family, 2005 http://www.wf-f.org/Mothers.html )

Mothers Day is a special day. Everyday is a special day. Let’s call our mother. Tell her we love her.

Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom Mrs. Erlinda de Lemon.

With the help of our communication gadget through our radio the incident was automatically coordinated with the City Disaster Coordinating Council and everything that must be done followed. In that situation we proved to our selves how responsible we are as volunteers.

Most of the tourists were asking for their destination here in Baguio City and as a part of our operation we provided the Baguio City Map from the Department of Tourism. Traffic enforcement has been properly managed and tourists have been properly served.

Generally, using the communication gadgets, banners and other facilities the mission for SUMVAC from April 8-12, 2009 has been accomplished by the operatives of RED DRAGON CIVICOM in cooperation with Baguio-Benguet Bicol’s Association.

Happy Graduation to all the Graduates of Batch 2009!

Good Day!

I am both honored and flattered to have been asked to speak for this wonderful occasion.

I congratulate each of you and your parents.

Your achievements in the realms of Scholarship, Leadership, Community Service, and Character are being honored here tonight by your induction into this prestigious society.

An honor such as this is a wonderful way for the school and community to recognize and celebrate the choices, and sometimes the sacrifices, you have made.

But I believe that what should make you and your parents the most proud is not the actual honor itself, but what you had to do to get it. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.” Any recognition is just the icing on the cake, not to be expected but definitely to be enjoyed.

However, I challenge you not to rest on your laurels but to continue to strive towards even loftier goals.
The four requirements for membership in which you have excelled: scholarship, leadership, community service, and character were not chosen at random.

They are the core of a fulfilled and fulfilling life.

The most important thing to remember is that each of these characteristics are the sum of many individual decisions. They embody a positive attitude backed by purpose. The only way to achieve your purpose is to take small actions everyday. In the end, they all add up. My hope for you is that you will cultivate this attitude backed by purpose in your own life.

Scholarship is much more than just getting straight A’s. It is a life-long love of learning. In the end it is a sum of small choices. Each time you decide you WANT to learn something, the experience will be so rewarding that the next time becomes easier.

Soon learning becomes a habit. At that point, your desire to learn makes getting A’s easier while taking the focus off of grades. The knowledge can still be hard to gain, but knowing you’ve mastered a difficult subject is an awesome reward. Suddenly the world around you becomes richer, full of learning opportunities.

Leadership is not about being elected or appointed to an office. The office does not teach someone how to be a leader. Leadership is an attitude cultivated over time.

Are you one to stand up for what you believe in and ‘face the music’ even when that music happens to be unpleasant? Do you have a purpose and follow that purpose to get the ends you desire? Do you have a vision? These are all questions that true leaders answer in the affirmative.
But how do you become a leader?

Each small decision you make takes you one step closer. Remember the goal is not to get power, but to get your vision and your purpose across. Leaders without visions can be likened to driving in a strange town without a road map: you are going to wind up somewhere, it just might not be in the best part of town.

Many see community service as a means to an end. Some might see it as a way to get service points while socializing, while others may view it as an unfortunate (and often inconvenient) necessity of high school life. But is that true community service?

Once again true community service is an attitude. Are you doing it for the right reasons? I’m not saying there won’t be Saturday mornings when you would rather sleep your heart out than paint your heart out.

What I’m talking about is that in the end, when it is all done, and you are once again well-rested, you can look back and realize that you did something worthwhile. That you helped your fellow man in some way. Remember as John Donne said, “No man is an island entire of himself.”

Finally, character.

If there is any one thing that is evidenced by your daily choices it is your character.

I truly believe what Thomas Macaulay said, “The measure of a man’s real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.”

What do you do when no one’s around? The teacher steps out of the room for a moment while you are taking a test after school. You know exactly where in your notes the answer to question 23 is. Do you look? Minimal chance of being caught!

The answer to this question is the key to your true character.

For while being honest and honorable when others are watching is important, being true to yourself is tantamount.

And in the end, these private day-to-day decisions will eventually reveal your true character to the world.

All in all, are making the tough choices worth it?

Yes.

While it would be easier to slide through life without a purpose, without a code, it would not be fulfilling. Only by setting difficult goals and achieving them can we find true self-worth.

One final thing, each person’s goals are different, and what comes easy to one may be difficult for another. Therefore, do not squash others’ dreams. This is a surefire way to know that you aren’t working towards fulfilling your own.

In conclusion, I congratulate you for this honor. You are truly the best of the best. Enjoy yourself, and remember as Mother Teresa said, “Life is a promise; fulfill it.”

Happy Graduation to all the Graduates of Batch 2009!
